What the checker looks at

Each finding points to the exact words in your letter and tells you what to do next.

VerifiedMeasured facts, such as a word count or a name that does not match.

SuggestionPatterns worth a second look. You decide whether they apply.

  • University and programme names

Compares every university named in your letter with the one you are applying to, so a name copied from another application does not slip through.

  • Length and language limits

Word, character and page limits as your programme counts them, with an exact page count for PDFs, and the language the programme asks for.

Template brackets, repeated sentences, doubled words and personal details that do not belong in a letter.

Questions

About privacy, countries and what the checker can and cannot do.

SOP or motivation letter?
Is my letter uploaded or stored?

No. Your text and files are read in your browser, on your own device, and the letter is never uploaded. Nothing is kept after you close the tab unless you choose to save a draft on this device. We ask for your email before your first results, and if you accept in the cookie notice we count which issues were found, never your text, to improve the checker.

Why do you ask for my email?

The checker is free, and your email is how we keep it that way: it lets us tell you about important changes and, only if you tick the box, about new free tools for students. We never send your letter with it, never sell it, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Does it work for Italy and Germany?

Yes. It supports Bachelor’s and Master’s applications for Italy, Germany and other countries. Requirements differ by university and programme, so you enter your programme’s own limits. Where a university’s rule is confirmed on its official page, the checker shows it with the source.

Can it tell me if I will be admitted?

No. It checks the writing: length, structure, clarity, evidence and common mistakes. Admission depends on your whole application and the university’s own assessment.

Does it write the letter for me?

No. It shows what to fix and asks questions that help you write in your own words. Universities expect the letter to be yours.

Which files can I use?

PDF, Word (.docx) and plain text files up to 5 MB, or pasted text. Scanned PDFs and password-protected files cannot be read, so paste the text instead.

Read it once more, with a second pair of eyes.
